Making the decision to visit a college campus is always full of excitement and perhaps a little nervousness. You’re feeling excited to see the campus, meet new people, and learn first-hand what your future could hold. On the other hand, you may be feeling a little bit anxious about discussing program requirements, figuring out your financial aid options, and having all your questions answered. This is perfectly normal!

Usually when you go on a campus visit, you sit and listen to speakers and presenters the majority of the day while potentially touring the campus with a large group of people — not at National University of Health Sciences!

NUHS offers it’s attendees a unique experience that involves many hands-on, interactive opportunities throughout the entire day! Here are a few of the benefits of joining us at our Campus Visit Day event on March 10:

1. Experience our state-of-the-art Gross Anatomy Lab.

The NUHS Gross Anatomy Lab offers the same exact features you will find in top caliber medical schools across the country. Emphasis on hands-on human dissection for anatomy training has always been a hallmark of our curricula here at NUHS, that is why students in all of our programs learn anatomy in this modern facility. At Campus Visit Day, you will experience a demonstration with a pre-dissected cadaver. This experience is way more than just a tour of the lab! You will also gain an overview of what is learned about the human body and more generally the anatomy courses contained within your program of interests’ curriculum.

2. Explore our integrative on-campus clinic with hands-on demonstrations.

At Campus Visit Day, no matter what program you’re interested in, you will have the opportunity to explore our integrative on-campus clinics. These clinics include our various treatment rooms, new Hydrotherapy Suite, Training and Assessment Center, and Herbal and Supplement Dispensary. Here are just a few examples of what you can expect to experience:

• Aspiring chiropractic students will work with simulated patients to do a mock diagnosis in addition to a tour of the treatment rooms and the herbal dispensary.
• Aspiring naturopathic students will attend a detailed lecture of the clinic portion of the program along with a tour of the dispensary and hydrotherapy suite.
• Aspiring acupuncture and oriental medicine practitioners will experience an acupuncture demonstration where they will get to see clinical interns performing needling. They will also have an extensive tour of the treatment rooms and dispensary.

3. Participate in engaging and informative alumni and student panels.

There is no better way to discover the in’s and out’s of a program than speaking with alumni and current students. The alumni and student panels offered at Campus Visit Day will give you the chance to speak with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences. During these panels you will learn about the journey of each individual, their reasons for pursuing an NUHS program, their experiences as an NUHS student, and much more. These panels are completely driven by your questions and what you want to know about pursuing a degree at National University.

4. Participate in a program-specific mock classroom experience.

Those interested in pursuing a career in chiropractic, naturopathic, or biomedical science will have the chance to participate in a sample lecture from faculty currently teaching in the program. The content discussed during the lecture will be taken directly from the curriculum and allows you to have a real-life classroom experience! Participating in this exercise will also allow you to speak one-on-one with faculty, giving you the chance to ask them any pressing questions you may have.

5. Discover various student clubs and organizations that allow you to explore your interests.

Joining a group or club on campus allows you to find a sense of community centered around a common passion or interest. At Campus Visit Day you can have one-on-one discussions with representatives from several of our university clubs. NUHS offers a variety of student clubs focused on professional growth, community service, sports & fitness, networking, and leadership — you should have no problem finding something that best fits you! Some of these clubs include, but are not limited to, the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA), student council, mixed martial arts club, NUHS Student Veterans of America (SVA), and Applied Kinesiology Club.

6. Earn tuition credit towards your first trimester!

Who doesn’t want the opportunity to earn free tuition credit? Another great benefit of attending Campus Visit Day is earning credit towards your first trimester before ever signing up for classes! All attendees will be eligible to receive $500 tuition credit towards their first trimester in one of our graduate programs or $250 tuition credit towards their first trimester in our undergraduate Biomedical Science program.(Note: this tuition credit only applies once regardless of which event, or the number of visits or events attended. The MSMS program is exempt from this tuition credit. Approval from the Admissions team is required to obtain the credit.)
