The best way to decide if the college you are interested in is the right place for you is to visit. And the best time to visit National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Ill., or St. Petersburg, Fla., is during Summer Soak Up, May 1 ̶ August 31.

While seeing the swans on beautiful Lake Janse on the Lombard campus and the short drive to Disney World from the Florida site are big draws, here are five more practical reasons you will want to visit either location before August 31.

1. Double the Tuition Credit and Travel Reimbursement

Summer visitors are eligible for a $1,000 tuition credit toward their first trimester in one of our graduate programs, or a $500 tuition credit toward the first trimester in our undergraduate and certificate programs  ̶  double the amount during other times of year. It’s a great head start to financing your education! (Note: this tuition credit only applies once regardless of which event, or the number of visits or events attended. The MSMS program is exempt from this tuition credit. Approval from the Admissions team is required to obtain the credit.)

Not only that, but those who live 75 miles or more from campus and apply to one of our programs may submit receipts for reimbursement of eligible travel expenses up to $500!

2. Get Answers and Get to Know Your Future Classmates and Instructors

If you want to be fully informed about our programs and understand our culture, talking face-to-face with students, staff and faculty is the way to go. Visiting helps you start building relationships with the faculty and staff who will be there to help guide you through your education. By talking with current students, you’ll get first-hand accounts of how to succeed in a rigorous medical program while still maintaining balance in your life.

3. Evaluate our Teaching Methods

Do you prefer a hands-on approach, or do you learn better through more traditional, lecture-based classes? National University’s programs are rigorous and challenging, which means our graduates are well-prepared professionals. It is wise to experience our learning environment first-hand to make sure that our teaching practices mesh with your learning style and preferences. Summer Soak Up Student for a Day visit events even offer the chance to sit in on two different class lectures!

4. Explore our Facilities and Resources

A university’s facilities and resources have a big impact on your professional preparation and college life experience. There’s no better way to evaluate the classrooms, labs, and clinical and library resources than to see them in person. The favorite stop on the NUHS Lombard campus tour is the state-of-the-art Gross Anatomy Lab, where students in all of our graduate and undergraduate programs learn through hands-on instruction with human cadavers.  You’ll also see the on-campus Whole Health Center, Training and Assessment Center, Herbal Dispensary, Botanical Garden, Learning Resource Center, Anatomage Table and the state-of-the-art Hydrotherapy Suite

You’ll be spending a significant amount of time on and close to school, so it’s important to also consider the university’s amenities and living options. Our Illinois campus houses a well-equipped fitness center and offers convenient on-campus apartment-style housing, including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options where students can live individually, with roommates or with their families. In both Lombard and St. Petersburg, there are also a wide variety of near-by housing options available.

5. Get a Feel for the Campus and the Chicago or Tampa Bay Area

Finding a school where you feel at home is one of the most important factors to consider. After all, you will be spending a significant amount of time here! Experiencing the feel of campus and student life is not possible over phone or email.

Summer is also the best time to wander the area to explore all of the many great restaurants, shopping, museums, and nearby bike and hiking trails in the Lombard area (oh, and did we mention that downtown Chicago is nearby?). Or, enjoy all that the St. Petersburg, Fla., area has to offer, just a short drive from Tampa.

If you’re unable to attend a group event, you can schedule a personal tour specific to your interest at your convenience. Both of our sites are beautiful this time of year, allowing you to combine your visit with sightseeing in the Chicago or Tampa Bay area.
