I won’t lie, sometimes this program can be pretty challenging! This trimester, if you count the acupuncture elective course, I’m taking about 33 credit hours of courses since I am on the fast track. While I do my best to stay current or ahead on the material, every once in a while we have weeks where everything happens all at once--and that was last week.
Through the program, you get used to the exam schedule. Most classes have three exams total for the grades, which comes out to an exam every five weeks or so (15 week trimesters). This usually works out great and our professors spread them out, but for some reason this trimester our first round of exams all happened on the same week! We had nine exams last week! It certainly made for a stressful week, but I got through it with grades intact.
To celebrate the end of a tough week, and no exams this upcoming week to study for, I was able to enjoy the weekend! This Saturday I spent some time at one of my favorite places in Pinellas County–Sawgrass Lake Park. I’ve written about this park before, but it’s about 15 minutes from where our school is located, and I always see some neat wildlife when I go. This time around I saw about five gators, an armadillo, and the biggest spider I have ever seen in my life (not as happy about seeing that guy). It’s always a fun experience walking around there, and I highly recommend it to anyone coming to visit the campus!
On Sunday my girlfriend and I decided to take a spontaneous day trip up to Tarpon Springs, a little coastal town about 40 minutes north of Pinellas Park. This area is known for two things: natural sponges and Greek food. Together it makes for a fun place to spend the day.
We walked around looking into all the shops and admiring all the wide variety of sponges you can purchase and ended up buying a couple. We found an awesome hole in the wall Greek restaurant right on the water that served up the best gyro I’ve ever had! Overall it was a very nice relaxing day!
