Festival Fun!

This week had a slightly lighter study load than the previous couple of weeks, so I took some time to enjoy the festivities that Tampa Bay has to offer. Almost every weekend you can find an event celebrating art, music, beer, tacos, French fries, and so much more.

I Passed Part 1 Boards!!!

This past week was a wild one down here in Florida. We got our part 1 national board exam results back after a long six weeks of waiting...and I am super happy to report that I passed! I’m very relieved I passed it on the first attempt, and I am proud of my tri because the majority of us passed all together! It is nice to have the load of basic sciences off our shoulders and now be able to focus on the clinical courses full time.

Sports Chiropractic at NUHS – Florida

Here we are completing week 6, and the business hasn’t slowed down for more than two seconds! We had a few exams last week, another six this week, and to top it off I’ve been feeling a little sick the last two weeks so I have not been up to much other than school. That being said, I figured I’d talk about something a little different this week.

Gasparilla 2019

The last weeks were busy ones for the clubs on campus! As president of Sports Council I had a few meetings, Club Lunch – where we speak to the Tri 1’s about each club on campus and our first meeting. I ran this week’s meeting and presented on Ankle Sprains, drawing a little bit from my athletic training background. The presentation seemed to be well received and I used a few minutes at the end of the meeting to teach the lower Tri students some basic orthopedic exams for the ankle and even demonstrated how to tape an ankle for sports practices.

Winter Break 2018

Hello everyone! After a nice couple of weeks off, it’s time to get back to school and begin Tri 5 and Phase II of the DC program down here in Florida! I am excited to get into the clinical sciences and take my acupuncture course as well. It will be a busy start to the trimester, as most of my classmates and I are taking Part 1 of our National Board Exams after the first week of classes, so we are all busy with final preparations for that.

10th Annual Turkey Bowl

As the holidays approach, we down here at the NUHS – Florida campus enjoyed one of our biggest annual events the TURKEY BOWL. This year marked the 10th Annual Turkey Bowl, so everyone knew it was going to be a big event. Every year since the start of the program here in Florida, Dr. Stiefel, the president of NUHS, comes to town and holds a flag football tournament, the University caters food (this year was some awesome Greek food), and provides sponsored giveaways from Biofreeze.

Halloween Festivities

These last two weeks have been a nice break from the business of this trimester. After my conference we finished up the first round of exams for the tri so this week was all about rest, relaxation, and enjoying a little free time. My family came out for a short weekend visit. It was great to have them–my parents haven’t visited since February, so they enjoyed the warm Florida weather for a few days.

2018 Thomas Hyde Research Poster Competition

I spent this past weekend in Minneapolis, Minn. attending the American Chiropractic Association Sports Council annual symposium. This is an event that brings together chiropractors from across the country with a common interest in working with athletes. There were many chiropractors there who work on the international level, providing care at Olympic games and countless other World events. There were also chiropractors who work with professional sports teams in the MLB, NFL, and NHL, and even others who are team doctors for different colleges across the nation.
