Celebrating Life!

by Jul 16, 2021

I had the great pleasure of attending and celebrating my classmate’s soon-to-be Mommy status! Sophia, who has been in my Tri-3 track, has been navigating courses and exams while also preparing for the arrival of her baby girl. It was a wonderful Baby Shower and so a fun moment to celebrate with her and other classmates.

Moments like these remind us that school and rigorous courses are just one aspect to life and that we really need to enjoy all the good times. NUHS has brought us all together and it is so wonderful to get to know my colleagues outside of class and show my support. It was heartwarming to see how many of her family, friends, and classmates came to the Baby Shower and showered her with so much love…and diapers! She has countless babysitters (including me) available to help her catch some needed rest. From what she’s told me, NUHS has been very supportive in helping her through this transition and determining the best strategy for her to continue through the DC program after the arrival of her baby.

The DC program at NUHS offers flexible track options to complete curriculum. Rather than completing the rigorous class load in four trimesters (per phase), students can opt to do a five or six-term track to complete the basic science phase and clinical science phase. This is a fantastic route for students that have families, employment, or other personal reasons to allow them to successfully fulfill the program while also maintaining their other needs. I am so excited for Sophia and I cannot wait to meet her baby girl when she arrives!

Alexandra Simic Hachmann

My name is Alexandra Simic Hachmann and I am currently in my 10th trimester of the Doctor of Chiropractic program here at NUHS - Florida. I am officially an intern at the HEC clinic! I have obtained a B.A. in Biology and Biomedical Sciences, as well as a Master of Medical Science degree. While I believe my educational background has helped me succeed in this challenging program, I appreciate all the professors’ efforts in helping us excel and prepare for our careers. As a hands-on visual learner, I am embracing the palpation courses and anatomy labs offered! I am still determining which field in chiropractic I would like to pursue; thus, readers should stick around to discover this with me! I hope to bring insightful content to this blog and demonstrate what student life is like at NUHS in sunny Florida.
