Refocus

by Jun 12, 2020

It’s been a challenging few weeks, to say the least. The media coverage on Covid-19 is non-stop, and the ultimate sins of American history are responsible for the volatile state of affairs. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the seven emotions are joy, anger, grief, worry, pensiveness, fear and fright, and each emotion is associated with a particular organ. Under normal conditions, these normal human reactions do not cause disease; however, excessive emotional activity can lead to severe energy imbalances, blockages, and even impaired organ function.

Grief is associated with the Lung, and too much grief can weaken or dissolve the Qi. Diminished Qi can lead skin problems, weakened immune system, and even tightness in the chest. With Covid-19 at every corner, a weakened immunity is not ideal. So, what can I do?

Studying during this time is tough, very tough; but I know that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. I must continue to refocus, and restart as many times as I need. My community needs me, and the highest way I can serve my purpose and my community is to continue in the journey in becoming a healer. And, studying for my upcoming exams will bring me one step closer in achieving that goal.

In conclusion, I would like to share something I read while scrolling on Twitter:

  • Did you eat today?
  • Have you remembered to let non-essential tasks go to give yourself a little breathing room right now?
